Ok, I know that no one has been here lately but just thought I would ask a ? anyways.  My daughter Maddie will be 2 on Tuesday and weighs about 30lbs and is 36ins long.  The shoulder strap on her carseat is at the tallest setting, are we going to have to get another seat or can we just use the shoulder strap or lap strap now?  Just wanted to know.  I really hope we don't have to get another one, I need to find the instructions that came with it because the seat is supposed to go up to 80lbs.  Any input from you been there moms would be really appreciated.  Thanks!!

If it's for up to 80 lbs, Nicole, and you can't find the manual try searching online for it or emailing the manufacturer. I don't know a lot of details about carseats but if I could get 50 more lbs out of it I would be frantically hunting for that manual!  Good Luck

WOW!! Maddie will be 2 tomorrow! Happy early birthday to her!

Thanks Jackie.  Yeah I have no idea where the manual is so I thought I would ask here first.  I am going to look and see if the car seat man. has a website so they can hopefully answer it.  Thanks again.

I'm going to guess that the 80 lbs might be using the carseat as a high-backed booster with the car's seat belt.

They often stop growing so quickly after they hit 2, so that might buy you some time to research your current seat and see if you do need a new one.  I personally, wouldn't want to switch her to a seatbelt for two reasons - a two year old can easily wiggle themselves out of the seatbelt and be out and about in the car and they don't quite have the listening skills that a 3 or 4 year old does to "do not get out of your seatbelt."  My second reason is that every change you make is a step down in safety.  A 5-point harness is safer than a high-back booster with seatbelt, which is safer than a no-back booster with seatbelt, which is safer than no booster.  If that made sense.
 Good Luck

Thanks ladies.  My main concern I guess was that everyone says that the straps should be above her shoulders but the last hole on this one is below her shoulders.  She can fit in it fine and I do think the belts will lengthen to fit around her better. I understand about the wiggling out of a seat belt and we really didn't want to go that route I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong by keeping her in it the way it is now. I was just wondering if anyone else had that problem or if it is really alright for it to be below her shoulder.  Did any of what I just said make sense?

Have you had a professional look at the fitting of the carseat? Here we have health professionals that do it and they told me that the shoulder straps she come up over the shoulder, for instance if her shoulders are at the top hole then they should come out the lower hole. for safety reasons.
My daughter went over the weight limit on her carseat and she is going to be three on the 24th and there was no way I was moving her into a seat that she could only use the seatbelt. So I did some checking and I ended up getting her a nautilus she can have the five point harness until 65 lbs. so worth it, however just found out they have it in pink at toys r us..  Ahhhhh

Thank you very much!!  I am glad you told me about the straps.  That is how it is with her now, so I think she is good.  I will have to check in to if we have somewhere to have it checked out.  Thanks again!!!

Sorry about Toys 'R Us having it in pink after you already got one.  Could you still take the other back and get the one at Toys 'R Us?  We've done that before.  Yeah, I know, how awful!!  Doh

I got mine at walmart for about $40 Cheaper. A friend of mine is wanting to put daughter in one like mine and found it in pink, at the time I didn't care I just wanted her safe. My nephew said they would buy the pink one for their boy and we could trade, I was like what ever if you really want to pay fourty bucks more great, but in all honesty I don't see it happening. But if my 5 year old wants this one, DH said he would get the pink one for Dalayni if he really wants that one, I think he only wants it cause it is his sisters. my opinion is as long as the kids are safe that is most important thing..
You might check at the fire stations, clinic, or health department those are the places that do them here..

Yeah, I really wanted a pink one for Maddie too but they are always more.  We ended up getting the ones that are for either.

I will have to see what we have.  Thanks again.

Our local fire department does carseat clinics when the check the carseats, boosters and installation.  You could check there too.
